It wasn’t always like this. Before CBD was so ubiquitous, manufacturers and distributors alike took a long and winding road filled with plenty of stumbles along the way. Even here at Diamond CBD, we’ve done our fair share of hard work, complete with blood, sweat, and tears to find ourselves where we’re at now.
We know that it’s important to remember where you came from and the road you traveled. That’s why we’re sharing some of the most important and newsworthy events to have shaped the world of hemp and CBD oil, both globally and for us, as we know it today.
Did you know? While the 2018 Farm Bill receives all of the praise, it was the 2014 version of the law that really revolutionized the hemp industry?
The Agricultural Act of 2014 (more commonly known as the U.S. Farm Act), was approved by the Senate and passed into law on February 7, 2014.
The First Farm Bill Creates a New Industry
The Agricultural Act of 2014 (more commonly known as the U.S. Farm Act), was approved by the Senate and passed into law on February 7, 2014. With an 86-11 vote, this revolutionary law legalized industrial hemp cultivation, processing, and sale in the United States through the use of pilot programs.
It gave birth to the CBD industry as we know it today.
The Farm Bill distinguished the legal difference between the cannabis plant (which contains high levels of THC), and industrial hemp. The legislation allowed farmers to legally grow and cultivate industrial hemp — providing consumers nationwide with the ability to purchase hemp-derived compounds, like CBD oil, from locally-grown plants.
With overwhelming support and approval by the Senate, other advocators touted the bill’s benefits on a national economic view-point. Senator Ron Wyden responded, “Our bipartisan legislation will spur economic growth in rural communities by creating much-needed red, white, and blue jobs that pay well. I’m proud to have worked with my colleagues to get the bipartisan Hemp Farming Act through the Senate. Today marks a long-overdue, huge step forward for American-grown hemp.”
The Hemp Industry Tackles the DEA
The Hemp Industries Association (HIA) defended hemp cultivators and consumers nationwide against the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), who sought to threaten the right to produce and consume hemp oil and hemp-based CBD products.
On December 14, 2016 a new rule was published by the DEA that established a new drug code for “cannabis extracts” by stating that any compound extracted from the cannabis plant (including CBD) “will be treated as a Schedule I controlled substance.”
The Hemp Industries Association and a group of petitioners brought this case to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, where they then insisted that Congress had already legalized CBD under the Agricultural Act of 2014.
Despite the fact that consumers continue to access CBD-infused products, the DEA’s rule has cast a fearful shadow over vendors and producers. Ultimately, this lawsuit could go a long way towards easing their worries. Read more here.
Diamond CBD Partners with the One and Only Tommy Chong
In August of 2017 Diamond CBD took the cannabidiol world by storm with the announcement of a once-in-a-lifetime partnership with cannabis community legend Tommy Chong. The counterculture legend and one half of the well-loved creative team of Cheech & Chong selected Diamond CBD, Inc. as his partner for his all-new brand of hemp-derived CBD oil products, which we now know and love as Chong’s Choice CBD.
“I use Diamond CBD products and love them! The World Health Organization Supports CBD
In December 2017, after over a month of deliberation regarding the scheduling of CBD, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced their recommendation that cannabidiol should not be subject to international drug scheduling. This decision was based upon evidence directly related to the benefits and risks of utilizing a CBD-infused product.
Did you know? The World Health Organization was the first to publicly declare that CBD was completely safe.
WHO’s research on the therapeutic use of CBD and its associated side-effects concluded that the cannabinoid is not a public danger.
In March 2018, Diamond CBD went to the Global Pet Expo to introduce MediPets to the world.

A New Farm Bill Open New Possibilities
By 2018, Washington was set to launch a new Farm Bill that would address all of the issues with the previous one. As PotNetwork NEws reported at the time, “although Washington D.C. lawmakers are still haggling over some of the details of the 2018 Farm Bill, a provision in the bill which would legalize hemp nationwide will be in the final version to be signed by President Trump, according to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.”
“We’re trying right now to make sure there’s a farm bill and before the end of the year,” Mitch McConnell told reporters in 2018. Regarding hemp provisions McConnell promised, “If there’s a farm bill it will be in there, I guarantee you that.”
